Privacy Policy

Last updated: 26 June 2026

Up Lock is built to be private. The app helps you spend less time on distracting apps by putting them behind a quick workout — and to do that it needs almost no information about you. There is no account to create, and nearly everything stays on your device.

1. Who we are

This policy explains how the Up Lock iOS app ("Up Lock", "we", "us") handles your information. If you have any questions, contact us at mattpbakerdev@gmail.com.

2. The short version

3. Information stored on your device

To do its job, Up Lock stores the following locally on your iPhone (and in a private app group so its components can share it): which apps you've chosen to lock, your difficulty and commitment settings, and your activity history such as unlock sessions, streaks, and calories. This information stays on your device and is not transmitted to us. Deleting the app, or using Delete Account inside the app, removes it.

4. Camera

Up Lock uses your camera to count exercise repetitions using Apple's on-device Vision framework. All processing happens live on your device. Up Lock does not record, store, screenshot, or transmit any images or video from your camera. The camera is active only while you are completing a workout to unlock an app.

5. Screen Time & Family Controls

Up Lock uses Apple's Family Controls / Screen Time framework to lock and unlock the apps you choose. The apps you select are represented to Up Lock as opaque tokens managed by iOS — Up Lock cannot see the names or identities of the specific apps you picked, and this selection never leaves your device. Up Lock does not use this capability to monitor a child's device or anyone else.

6. Subscriptions

Up Lock offers an auto-renewing subscription. Payments are handled entirely by Apple through your App Store account — we never see your payment details. We use RevenueCat to manage and verify your subscription status. To do this, RevenueCat processes a randomly-generated, anonymous app-user identifier together with purchase and transaction data and device identifiers (such as Apple's vendor identifier, IDFV). This data is used solely to provide and restore your subscription. See RevenueCat's privacy policy for details. Up Lock does not receive your name from this process.

7. Analytics, advertising & tracking

Up Lock does not include third-party analytics SDKs or advertising, does not track you across other apps or websites, and does not sell or share your personal information for advertising.

8. Data retention & deletion

On-device data stays until you remove it. You can erase everything at any time using Settings → Delete Account in the app, which wipes your local data and resets your anonymous subscription identifier; deleting the app also removes on-device data. If you would like us to help delete any data associated with your anonymous subscription identifier held by our subscription processor, email mattpbakerdev@gmail.com.

9. Your rights

Depending on where you live (including under the UK and EU GDPR), you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data and to object to certain processing. Because Up Lock holds essentially no personally identifying information about you, most of your data is already entirely under your control on your device. For anything held by our subscription processor, contact us at mattpbakerdev@gmail.com and we'll help.

10. Children

Up Lock is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll revise the "last updated" date above and post the new version at this page.
